Daniel - 4 months old

The second child never gets as much attention as the first. That doesn't mean they aren't loved or cared for as much, they just don't get the same one-on-one time as the first child. That being said, I wanted to make sure I write about Daniel, so every month I want to jot down what he's doing, saying, etc.

Daniel turned 4 months old this past Monday. My how time flies. The first three months were tough due to lack of sleep and adjusting to taking care of two kids. But his first smile at three months made it all worth while. Before his 4 month doctor appt, I thought for sure he was going to measure above average. He just felt so much heavier than I remember Allison being at that age. Well, needless to say, that was not the case. In fact, he measured almost exactly the same as Allison did at 4 months:. He's 12lbs 15oz and 24 1/2" tall. I guess I'm just much more tired from taking care of two kids that Daniel feels heavier.

He's sleeping pretty well at night as long as he's in the swing in our room. I'm trying to transition him this week to the crib in his room which has been tough. My biggest issue is that his room is right next to Allison's and I don't want his crying to wake her up. So that's been a tough process. This week has also been tough because every time I walk away from him and he can't see me he cries. Hopefully this phase will pass soon. It wasn't until six months that Allison had separation anxiety but it lasted almost a year with her. Ugh. Other than wanting to be held all the time, Daniel is doing great. He's very happy in the morning and gives us lots of big smiles. I put him the exersaucer for this first time this past week and he really seems to enjoy it. Allison is teaching him how to push the buttons and make it sing. Here's a picture of him exploring his new toy:

He also rolled over for the first time this past week. He can roll from his back to his belly but then he gets stuck. It's kinda cute though. He also loves to make sounds and hear his own voice. Allison loves to hug, kiss and hold "baby Daniel" as she calls him. He loves to watch her sing, dance and laugh with her endless supply of energy. Happy 4 months Daniel!
