I always hated the fact that when people walk into our house, the first thing they see is this:No, not the kids, the messy play area! Granted, this picture was taken in July 2008 (during Allison's 4th birthday party) but not much changed over the last year. It was always a messy play area. I couldn't wait for the day to where I could actually make this into a nice room - with very little, or no toys. Well, that day has arrived and I couldn't be more excited about it. We've been planning the layout of the room for many months now. The plan is to turn it into a tv room, but we have to wait a little while for the tv part. You see, Jeff has lots of wiring to run in order to get it setup the way he would like. Since he is currently in grad school, he doesn't have much time for home projects. He actually hopes to be able to do all the wiring in the next couple of months, but we'll see. In the meantime, it will be a sitting room for us. This past weekend we went furniture shopping. I pretty much knew what I wanted so it didn't take long to pick something out. The store offered same day delivery so we purchased the couch at 1:00pm and they said they could deliver it that day. Well, didn't exactly work out as planned. They were supposed to arrive between 9-11pm, they showed up at 12:45am! Yeah, we didn't get much sleep Sat night but that's okay. It was all worth it! Here's how the room looks now:
Quite a difference huh? Now I know you are probably wondering what happened to all the toys. Well, they've all been moved upstairs. The upstairs of our house consists of Allison's bedroom, Daniel's bedroom and a loft area. We used to have a couch in the loft area along with more toys but we moved the couch into our bedroom which really opened up the loft area. Here is a picture of the "new" playroom:
I love all the changes we made. Allison wasn't too happy about us getting rid of the old couches in the old play area. Apparently she was very attached to the pillows on them (not sure why). I couldn't be more happy to see them go. We bought them right before we got married which means they were almost ten years old. Goodbye old couches, you were good to us, but I am happy to see you go! Now if only I could convince Jeff to get rid of that red chair...
