Allison's First day of Kindergarten!

Well we survived the first day of kindergarten!!!. Yea! Our morning started bright and early...at 1am when Allison came into my room because she had a bad dream. I thought, "oh no" she's not going to get enough sleep and be miserable all day. Luckily she quickly fell back asleep and didn't wake up until 6:30am. We all got up and dressed for the day. Here are some pictures of Allison in her school attire.

Daniel was the least enthused to be woken up. He was NOT happy when I woke him up at 6:45am and immediately got him dressed. He is slow to wake up and is used to being able to sit on the couch and slowly adjust to the day. After I took the pictures of Allison, I noticed Daniel wasn't around so I went to look for him. I found him sitting on the dog food container in the laundry room (which leads to the garage). Poor guy just wanted to go back to bed:

He finally chippered up and I took this picture:

Yes, Jeff was dressed and ready by 7am - Can you believe it???

After we all ate breakfast, it was time to head out for school. It's so nice that the school is about a 1 minute drive from our house. We got there nice and early so we could take a few pictures.

At 7:45 we went inside and walked Allison to her classroom. She went in, was given a name tag and sat down on the carpet. I snapped a quick picture, yelled "goodbye Allison!" and she said "Goodbye mommy!" and waved and we were out the door. It was pretty anti-climatic - no tears (guess that's a good thing). Daniel and I were off to start our day. I couldn't believe how much I was able to get done with only one child. Life seemed so much easier! Daniel and I enjoyed our time together but he greatly missed Allison. Every time we got into the car, he looked over at her car seat and said "Miss Allison" (as in I miss Allison). I could tell he definitely missed her presence but before we knew it, it was almost 2pm and time to pick her up! Pick-up went very smoothly and we were home by 2:15. Of course I asked her a million questions about her day. She told me a few things about what they did. Here's what I got from her - there were 5 kids in her class today (there will be 23 but they do a staggered start for kindergartens so the teachers can get to know them and vice versa), they had a fire drill so they could practice what to do if the alarm were to go off, the teacher read them some books, they went to the art room where Mr. H talked to them and they got to draw a picture. Here are the pictures she made:

She said the teacher told her to draw a face. She was especially proud of the teeth she made because she has never drawn teeth like that before and the colorful roof on her house. After art class they had lunch in the cafeteria. She also told me that there's a lady named Mrs Q and she makes all the rules (that would be the principal that she is referring to) and the one rule they learned today is that they can't talk in the hallways "not even whisper!" she told me. That's about all I've gotten out of her thus far. Sounds like she enjoyed her first day and will be going back tomorrow (good thing!). The plan id for Jeff to drop her off in the mornings on his way to work but that will depend on him actually getting up at 6:30 every day. We'll see how that goes. At least if he doesn't take her, he can stay home with Daniel while I take her so that he doesn't have to be woken up at the crack of dawn every morning. Anyway, I think that completes everything that happened today. I'm sure I will have many stories to tell this coming school year, hopefully only good ones but you never know!
