A Mother's Day Reflection

It feels like just yesterday I was a little child being taken care of by my mother and now I have to little ones of my own. Every now and then I think about the fact that I am a mother and sometimes it still surprises me. Sometimes I just feel like the little girl I once was. Now Allison is that little girl and Daniel is my first chance to experience what little boys are all about (given that I didn't have any brothers). I am their guidance, their caretaker, their advisor, a shoulder to cry on when they get hurt. I am so many things to them that sometimes I forget who I am. But first and foremost I am a mother, and I truly enjoy taking care of my children. They bring me such happiness and joy. They make me realize my strengths, weaknesses and my desires - for myself and them. They often bring out the best (and sometimes the worst) in me. It's hard to remember my life before these kiddos came along and I can't imagine my life without them. I love them dearly. So on this mother's day, I am truly blessed to be a mother to two absolutely wonderful children. I hope all you mothers (and moms to be) have a wonderful Mother's Day. Happy Mothers Day, especially to my mom!
