We took the kids to the beach on Saturday. We hadn't been there since this excursion when Uncle Brad was to town last August. It seemed much easier this time. Probably because Daniel is no longer an infant. I was interested to see how he would react to the sand and the ocean. As for the sand, this pictures describes it all:
He was perfectly content on the big blanket but once his foot touched the sand he was none to happy. I don't think he liked the feeling of of his foot sinking when he tried to stand up on it. It was actually a blessing in disguise because he wouldn't crawl off the beach blanket so we didn't have to spend the whole day chasing after him. As for the ocean, he was a bit freaked out at first but he slowly warmed up to the idea and actually seemed to enjoy it by the end. I held him the whole time and we jumped the waves together - not that there were many waves, it looked like a lake, which is my kind of ocean! Allison had fun digging in the sand and building sand castles. She was also a bit hesitant about going in the ocean, but we basically threw her in (okay, not literally) and then she didn't want to get out. She had so much fun playing with her daddy in the ocean. Here are a few more pictures from our day:
