It's been a tough weekend for me. Jeff started grad school so he was gone all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This wouldn't have been so bad but Daniel decided to get sick. Well, not really decided, must have picked up a germ somewhere last week, Go figure, the boy puts his hands on everything and then proceeds to put his fingers in his mouth. I can only do so much to keep his hands clean. He and Allison both had colds last week and she had an yet another ear infection (which is a whole other story - looks like she might have to get tubes) so I thought maybe he had the same thing. So he had a high temperature on Friday but Sat morning it had leveled off a bit so I decided to wait it out before I called the doctor. Saturday afternoon he felt VERY hot so I took his temperature at it was 103. I called the doctor and they said to keep him cool and bring him in on Sunday. It was a LONG night. I had him in our bed because I was worried about him - I had him on Tylenol every four hours but his fever wasn't subsiding. I took his temperature every few hours to make sure it didn't go to high. It reached 103.5 but I think that was the height of it. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep. So this morning I brought him in and the doctor checked him out - no ear infection and his lungs are fine. She figured it was probably viral but she wanted to make sure so she ordered a blood and urine test. For a 15 month old, the only way to get urine is to catheterize them. So I had the pleasure of holding him down while the nurse did what she needed to do. He didn't like that so much but was fine afterwards. After that we had to go to the hospital (which is right next door) for the blood work. Again, I had the pleasure of holding him while the technician poked his arm and drew the blood. He didn't like that so much either. But as far as hospitals go, they were pretty quick. We were in and out in about 40 min which was a good thing because Allison was complaining about the smell (can't blame her) and there was some crazy lady screaming in one of the rooms (i so hate hospitals!). The doctor called soon after and said Daniel's blood work came back normal which was a relief. So we think it's just another stupid virus. Figures it would happen this weekend. I'm going a little (okay, a lot) nutty but hanging in there. I think this has been one of the longest weekends in my life. I've never looked so forward to a Monday before.

No fun! I'm sure Monday can't come fast enough. What's going on with Allison's ears? I feel like we're on the other end with Audrey's adenoidectomy. If tubes are the route you need to go, hopefully there will be improvement.
