Cupcakes for Breakfast

Since Allison's birthday party is on Saturday, I figured I needed to buy something for her to have on her "actual" birthday that we could put candles in and sing happy birthday. She picked out some cupcakes from the food store and the plan was to go out to dinner, come home and sing happy birthday and eat cupcakes. That was the plan. Plan's don't always work out as expected. Allison fell asleep in the car on the way home. It was almost 8 o'clock and she had gone swimming with grandma earlier in the day so she was quite tired. When we came home I put her straight to bed. Around 5:30 this morning, I heard the little feet coming towards my bed. A few minutes later, I heard Daniel on the monitor. I went upstairs to try and get Daniel to go back to sleep. While up there, I heard Allison crying and saying something but I couldn't exactly make out what she was trying to say. When I came back down, she had been crying because we didn't have the cupcakes on her "actual" birthday. I tried to calm her and told her we could have them for breakfast. After a few more minutes of unhappiness, she was fine with that reasoning. Daniel didn't want to go back to sleep either so both kids were up at 5:30 am. Somehow Jeff got to sleep until 8 but I had to stay up with them. Funny how it works. Back to the subject of this blog - at 8 am it was time for breakfast - cupcakes! Allison put in her four candles, I lit them, we sang happy birthday and she blew out the candles. A little bit later than planned, but better late than never!

Daniel joined in on the fun too:
