I feel like a kid again. Jeff bought me an early birthday present this weekend - a new bike! I decided that since last year for my birthday I was recovering from having a c-section 4 days earlier, I deserved a special gift this year. I must admit, I have not ridden a bike in over 15 years! When I was a kid, I used to ride all the time and I loved it. I didn't ride too much in high school and once I went off to college my bicycle riding days were over. Well, here we are almost 15 years later and I'm ready to start again. It did feel a little funny at first. The salesman at the store told me to ride it around to see if I liked it and I was embarrassed (and a bit nervous) because I honestly had not been on a bike since I was a teenager (and there were lots of obstacles for a clumsy person like me to run into). Jeff and the salesman just snickered behind my back as I attempted to steer my way through the store. So I rode it for a second or two at the store and then we brought it home. Of course, like they say, you never forget how to ride a bike. I was a little wobbly at first but after a few rides up and down the street it was easy as pie. Now Jeff wants to sign us up for a one-hundred mile bicycle ride (this was his motivating factor in buying me the bike). Yes, 100 miles, I did type that correctly. It does seem quite far fetched for someone who hasn't been on a bike in such a long time, but you really can do anything you put your mind too, so I'm not ruling it out. Or, if you ask him, I'm definitely in.
I'm not a big fan of pictures of myself (which I why I have very few posted on my blog) but here are a couple of me on my new bike:

Go for it!!! Bike riding is so wonderful. I just ran/walked a 10K last weekend (I never run), so even running half of the 6.2 miles was huge for me.
What a great gift. I hope you have fun being a kid again.
I still enjoy bike riding. Maybe we can go for a bike ride sometime. Mom
