On Saturday, Allison really wanted to go in the pool. Although the temperature here has been in the upper 70's/low 80's our pool is not heated and the water temperature was a cool 72 degrees. To give you some perspective, I only swim when it's 80 degrees or higher. 72 feels quite cold. So we told Allison that the pool was too cold to go swimming in. Also, it was about 4:30 pm and there was no sun on our pool, which means it was just plain chilly. Allison then disappeared upstairs to her room and about ten minutes came back downstairs...wearing her bathing suit. This is the first time she had ever gotten herself undressed and dressed. We couldn't' believe she managed to get her bathing suit on all by herself. Then she asked to go into the pool again. Jeff and I just looked at each other. I mean, how can you say no to that! Well, I could, but Jeff is such a wonderful daddy. He said, okay Allison let's go swimming. He put on his bathing suit and then jumped in the pool, the frigid pool. Allison had no problem going into the cold water. After about 3 minutes, Jeff said, "Allison, it is absolutely freezing in here. We need to get out." She wanted to stay in so bad. I can't believe the cold water didn't even phase her. Sometimes I wonder whose genes she has because I can't stand being cold let along being in very cold water. Must be daddy's influence. So props to Jeff for standing up to the task and rewarding his daughter for getting herself dressed!
