Well, needless to say, the red chair did not end up on the curb for bulk trash pickup today. Although, Allison has found a position that apparently is comfortable for her...
So the red chair saga continues...I know most of you are on the edge of your seats (ha!) waiting to hear what will happen next. Stay tuned...

Red Chair Update

Amy,
This chair has been around quite a while. I inherited it from Jeff's paternal grandparents, and in the early 70's, took it to Metairie Upholstery where the old man exclaimed at how most young people would throw such a chair out, but that to his delight, I had thought to have it repaired and re-upholstered. He did a nice job with the red upholstery, but I'm not sure he really got the warp out of the frame, which has only gotten worse. I used it in the den - the small third bedroom in the back of a shotgun double. The carpet was a matching red, the walls were painted a deep shade of gold, and the window shades got a row of red fringe. Very 70's. I understand if you now cringe.
Here's a suggestion. Take your photo of the red chair and put it in an suitably antique-looking frame. Retire the chair and enjoy the sentimental value of a memorialized bit of old New Orleans - nostalgic, charming, and thoroughly dysfunctional.
A brillent suggestion. A picture allows Jeff to retain its sentimental value. Jeff sure has a smart mother.....grandma
I have to admit, I'm kind of glad to hear the red chair is still around. I am a bit sentimental myself! :) Though I LOVE Nana's idea of framing a picture - I almost suggested it myself last week. God bless.
