It's not even Halloween yet and I'm already exhausted. Although that has partly to do with the fact that Daniel has been waking up in the middle of the night for the past six weeks, but that's another story. We've had a fun two days of Halloween festivities. It started yesterday with my Moms club annual Halloween party at the park. The kids had so much fun that they didn't want to leave. So we were there for 3 1/2 hours and finally had to leave when the sun decided it needed to go nighty night. I was very happy with Daniel - he did so well playing, he barely came up to me at all (only when he had to go potty or eat). This is a big step for him, especially in a large group of people because that is when he tends to cling to me most. So I'm happy to see progress in his social skills. He even participated in the parachute games. It was quite hot yesterday so the kids tried to stay well hydrated. I attempted to get a picture of the two of them together, looking at the camera and smiling. Yeah, that's nearly impossible, but I did get this shot:
Then Allison wanted to play photographer so I had her take a picture of me and Daniel:
Daniel also had fun finding sticks to play with. He started out small with this one:But then moved onto this BIG one:
Then the sun started to set and we took one last picture:
This morning, the kindergartners at Allison's school had a storybook parade. The kids came dressed in costumes of storybook characters. Since I still had Allison's Cinderella costume from last year, she was able to wear it. I tried to snap a couple pictures of her as she walked by, but that's never easy. My first shot was a second too late:The second shot was a little better:
Then I was able to capture Allison and her friend Lauren in the hallway, both dressed as Cinderella:And finally, they headed back to their classroom:
Tonight we are going to our friend Bryan and Kim's house so that Jeff can take part in their haunted house, just like last year. Although this year it's supposed to be even bigger and better (and I don't think it will involve any face painting - fortunately for Jeff). Then Saturday night we'll be back at the haunted house and I'll take the kids trick-or-treating. Allison is going to be a witch and Daniel is going to be a fireman. More pictures to come!
