I was sitting on the couch on Saturday afternoon looking at my friend's pictures of her trip to Disney and thinking I wish I could be there. I just happened to mention it to Jeff and he said "Alright, let's go!" I thought about it for a second, realizing he wasn't kidding, and thought "Why not?" After all, it is only 2 1/2 hrs away. Within 45 min., we asked the neighbors to watch the dog, called a friend to borrow her double stroller, made a hotel reservation for the night, packed our bags and we were on the road! We're not usually ones for spontaneity, especially with two little ones, but sometimes you just gotta have some fun. And that we did! We drove up Sat night and stayed at a hotel, then woke up Sunday morning and headed to the Magic Kingdom! I had never been there around Halloween so it was really neat to see it all decorated for the holiday. The weather was beautiful - we couldn't have asked for a nicer day. Once we were in the park, we went straight to Fantasyland because no only do they have the best rides for the kids but they also tend to get more crowded as the day goes on. We managed to go on Snow White, Pooh, Peter Pan and It's a Small World in less than an hour. Next up was Allison's favorite ride - the teacups! Now, this was no ordinary trip on the teacups. We got in line, which is kind of a joke becuase there really was no line - we just had to wait for the ride to stop. As we were waiting, who do we see...Alice!Of course Allison was quite excited to see her but not only did she see her - Alice came right up to Allison and started talking to her. Then she asked Allison if she could ride the teacups with her! Another girl wanted to ride with them also, but Alice told her it was a "private tea party". She gave her full undivided attention to Allison and of course Allison loved it!
Afterwards, Jeff and I tried to explain to Allison how lucky she was. We weren't sure if it really sunk in - she got to ride the teacups with Alice!!! I mean, how often does that happen? After the ride, Allison and her new friend sat for a picture:
That was definitely the highlight of the day! But there was plenty more fun to be had. After the teacups, we said hello to Peter Pan. Amazingly, my shy little Daniel said hello to Peter and posed for a picture!
Then it was time for some real rides! Allison wanted to go on Goofy's roller Coaster so we walked over to Mickey's Toontown. We wondered if Daniel would be tall enough to ride too and sure enough he was (just barely!). Jeff was so excited (can you tell from the smile on his face??) to be able to take his son on his first roller coaster. I wasn't sure how Daniel would react, but it seems he loved it! He even went on twice!
Not only was Daniel tall enough to ride the roller coaster, he was also big enough for the race cars! Granted, he couldn't see over the steering wheel, but that's what daddy is for (Daniel is in the picture, you just can't see him).
See, here he is:And finally, to prove i really was there for all of this, Allison took a picture of Jeff and I:
All in all, it was a fun spur of the moment trip. I think you need to do that every now and then to keep things fun and interesting!

I am catching up with older posts and loved the Alice in Wonderland trip. I'm glad that y'all followed your instincts to a great end.
