Wait, What Just Happened?

It's been quite a week in this household. Daniel is potty trained, he essentially has given up his naps, and as of tonight, he is in a big boy bed! Daniel has always been very easy to put to bed. We'd lay him in his crib and not here a peep from him until morning. Of course there were nights when he's wake up but for the most part he was a good sleeper...until this past week. I think he started to think he was missing out on something after he was put to bed. So this past week, almost every night he cried when we tried to put him to bed, better yet, he screamed...and then I noticed it. He put his leg up on the edge of the crib as if he was going to climb. Now I'm not sure if he really would have had the guts to do it, because he is somewhat cautious, but I really didn't want to take that chance. I was hoping we could keep him in a crib a little while longer but it seemed that the time had come to make the switch. Now we had to decide what kind of bed to get him. Allison was right around the same age when she moved into a bed (she was about 6 weeks older). I knew I wanted to put her directly into a twin bed since we had just moved into our new house and I wanted to buy her a new bedroom set. But this time around, I wasn't so sure. Daniel's room is rather small so I always thought we might try a toddler bed before the twin bed. After Jeff and I mulled it over for about a half an hour (in the midst of him finishing a paper for grad school that was due at 9pm tonight) we decided to go with the toddler bed. After a little more thought, we decided on the Lightning McQueen toddler bed. I would have been content with a simple wooden one, but I could tell Jeff was excited for his son to have a car bed. Seems like it was something he wishes he could have had at that age, but never did. So off to the toy store we went to make our big purchase. Daniel was quite excited to see it in the store (next to a toddler Thomas bed which thank goodness he didn't want because that thing was just obnoxious). Jeff tied it to the roof of our car and we returned home. Then the fun began...time to put together the bed:

Jeff used his mad skills to put the frame together
Then the kids attempted to put the tires on
And then had fun sitting in it
And pretending to drive it
Next we said "goodbye" to the crib
And "hello" to Daniel's new bed
Allison insisted on putting all the animals from the crib on the bed too:
Not sure who's more excited about having a car bed:

Now here's to hoping he actually stays in his bed at night. So far so good, but it's only been a few hours.
