Let the Halloween Festivities Begin!

Allison had her first field trip today and I was lucky enough to be able to go with her. Their class went to a "pumpkin" patch to hear pumpkin stories, see a puppet show, and admire the thousands of pumpkins that had been trucked in. Yes, it's a little different from when I was a kid. Growing up in the north (north of here anyways), we actually got to go to a real pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin that would then be cut off the root. Given that this is Florida, I don't think a "real" pumpkin patch could be found anywhere within a hundred or perhaps a five-hundred mile radius. It's just too darn hot to grow pumpkins in this area. But these kindergartners don't know any better and they all had a fabulous time. Later in the day I ended up going back to the pumpkin patch so that Daniel could come along and they could both pick out a pumpkin to bring home. Here are some pictures from our day:

Allison and her friends Zachary and Lauren excited to be on their first field trip
My shy little girl...
All the kids listening to a story about a square pumpkin
Each kid was given a little pumpkin to take with them
Posing with the Scarecrow
Time to head back to school (but of course she has to do her silly pose first)

Later in the day, Allison was excited to go back with Daniel and pick out pumpkins. First they found the little pumpkins
Then they moved onto the bigger ones

So many pumpkins, which one to choose?
Of course Allison picks out the lamest one (I convinced her to put it back)
Then she found 2 more
If only I could get both of them to look at the camera at the same time

Daniel just wanted to climb all of the pumpkins, cute picture though...
And last, but certainly not least, my favorite picture of the day...
