Allison's Preschool Graduation

Those of you that are friends with me on facebook have already seen some of Allison's graduation photos, but of course I needed to create a post so it will be a part of my blog book. We had an enjoyable time at graduation. All of the kids were told to dress as on of the "land of the letter people" and Allison chose the letter "R" which was Rainbow Ribbons. I don't consider myself very crafty but I managed to put together a rainbow ribbons t-shirt. I started out trying to sew on the ribbons but gave up after the first one and ended up gluing them on. I had a feeling the ribbons might not last too long on graduation day but I figured it would last the hour or so that it needed to. As you can see from this picture, her teacher ended up using safety pins to keep some of the ribbons on and half the cloud on the rainbow ended up falling off:

Like I said, I'm not the craftiest person but it was good enough. I also put ribbons in her hair and on her shoes - those managed to stay in.

The graduation started with a land of the letter people parade where they marched around the school (inside and out) in their costumes. Luckily the parade finished just before the skies opened up and a deluge of rain took over. Then we went to their classroom where they sang us two songs "Funny Feet" and "The Shapes Song." They had been practicing the songs for weeks, if not months. Allison would sing Funny Feet at home at the top of her lungs so I knew the every word. The funny thing is when it came time to sing during her graduation, the loud voice I heard at home was nowhere to be found. But it was cute nonetheless. If you'd like to hear 16 kids sceaming watch the video, click on Play below (Allison is all the way on the end in the pink shirt):

After the songs, they recited a poem for us:

Finally, each student was given a diploma and then they dined on cupcakes, cookies and bagels.
Here's a few more pictures from graduation:

Giving a hug to her favorite teacher, Ms. Denise. Allison pretty much gave her a hug during each pause in the graduation ceremony. She is definitely going to miss her!

The proud graduate
All that singing makes a kid hungry
They just came for the free food (just kidding Jeff!!!)

In a couple months she will be off to kindergarten. In the meantime, we look forward to a fun-filled summer!
