Wannado City

Between my moms club and all of Allison's friends at school we are forever going to birthday parties. Yesterday, we attended a party for her friend Tyler at a place we had never been to. It's called Wannado City. It's a big indoor pretend city where kids get to pretend to be grown-ups and do the things that we would consider chores or work like grocery shopping, going to the bank, performing surgery, etc. They earn money (wonga bucks) for certain activites and other activities cost money. Allison and her friends had a blast. We didn't get to do nearly half of what they had there because the place was so massive but as part of the birthday package, we received a free ticket to go back within the next month. It's a bit of a drive for us, so we'll see if we make it back in the next month. After pizza and cake, Allison and her friend Ashley decided to go into the recording studio and sing a song from Beauty and the Best. Since the girls couldn't exactly read the teleprompter, they just sang "lalalala" the whole time. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera that takes video's otherwise you could have heard ow hysterical it was. Since I had my old camera, pictures will have to do. Here' s a picture from the recording studio:
They each made $20 for their beautiful music. Next, Allison went to the bank to deposit the $150 check that they were given at the start of the day:

Then it was off to star in a Willie Wonka Commercial. Unfortunately I can't show you the final product but here they are in front of the green screen creating the commercial. The funniest part was since her friend Ashley was wearing green shorts, when we watched the commercial, it looked like she was missing the middle of her body. Here they are creating the commercial with some girl scouts:
Next up...the food store for a little food shopping. It cracked me up the Allison choose to buy Matzoh ball soup.

Allison and her friend Alyza had fun riding the train, which costs $10 Wonga bucks.

...and the ferris wheel...
Next it was time for a little pampering. The girls just had to have tattoos. Allison got a mermaid on her leg. No pain involved in these tattoos. I will be sure to explain to her the difference between this and a real one.
Then they went to the hair and nail salon. They got to choose if they wanted to have the Wannado employees do their nails or if they wanted to do each other's nails. They chose to do each other's. I thought it would be a disaster but Allison's friend Alexis did a great job of painting Allison's nails purple:
After all that pampering, it was time to go to work. Allison and Alyza watched a video on how to perform surgery (if only it were that simple). Then they scrubbed up and removed a couple kidney stones from a pretend patient. My camera batteries died during this part so I didn't get a good picture of her actually "performing the surgery, but I did catch them in the room:

I was ready to go home after that long surgery but Allison really wanted to be a fireman. I wish my camera was still working at this point because she looked so funny in an oversized firehat and coat. They trained to be firefighters, then they had to slide down a big slide and put on their gear. Next they hopped on the firetruck which took them around Wannado City until they arrived at the pretend fire. They had to work as a team to put out the fire with real water and hoses. Allison was definitely the smallest kid by far so some of the older kids helped her out. Then it was back to the firehouse to get paid for all their hard work. All in all, not a bad place to spend the day.

New Rule: Mommy is never allowed to leave the house without the video camera and extra batteries. I can only imagine how cute she was for all of this. Did she get to keep a copy of the commercial they made?
