Daniel - 16 Months

I haven't given a "Daniel's development" update in a couple months so I figured I'm due! He is 16 months today and quite the little man! The picture above is quite appropriate because he absolutely LOVES bath time. Anytime the word "bath" is mentioned around him, his eyes get real wide and he starts saying "Bath, Bath, Bath". But that's not the only word he says, he has quite a few words in his vocabulary including: cheese, mama, dada, Riley, ball, five (as he holds up his hand for a high five). Also, whenever he hears the word "bye" he starts waving his whole arm. He also loves to say "cheers" and hold up his cup, at which point we all have to hold up our glasses and say cheers. It wouldn't be dinner in our house without saying cheers and raising our glasses about ten or so times.
His best buddy is still Riley. He just loves that dog (definitely more than Allison ever did). He loves to follow him and feed him. Daniel is also still a big climber. The bigger he gets, the more he gets into trouble. At a friend's house yesterday, I was in a different room than him and my friend called me to come see something - Daniel was sitting on top of the kiddie table. Didn't surprise me one bit! He loves to stand on our sofa and run from one end to the other. Daddy doesn't like that so much but I've gotten used to it because there is simply no stopping this boy!. I'm hoping to sign him up for some sort of gym class soon so he can do all the climbing he wants but in a safer environment.
He still doesn't listen to the word "no". I get a smile and a giggle whenever I say that to him. I've tried slapping his hand when he's doing something he shouldn't but he giggles at that too. I'm going to have to find alternate forms of saying "no". Any ideas?
In the meantime, I look forward to more words in the coming months. I'm still amazed by how much he can understand at a young age. When I ask him to do something such as find me a ball or put something in the trash can, he goes right ahead and completes the task. So, he seems to understand, but only listens when he wants to!
