More Ramblings from Me...

Wish I had a Tiny Talk to share today but unfortunately I got nada. So instead I'll give an update on our lives. We had a relaxing weekend, although poor Daniel's been quite sick. Both kids have been battling a bad cold. Allison had it first and then passed it onto the little guy. He's had a fever the past few days but the Motrin is keeping that under control. The worst part is his cough. It's not just a cough - he sounds like he's going to choke up a lung, poor guy. Hopefully his status will start to improve over the next couple days because I'd really hate to have to take him to the doctor. He's really become familiar with that place and now knows it's not somewhere he enjoys. It seems everyone in Allison's class had or has the same illness so it's quite contagious. Can't wait until the kids are all better.

I've also been glued to the tv all weekend. As most of you know, most of Jeff's family lives in New Orleans. They all managed to evacuate to safer ground but it wasn't easy. It took his brother 15 hours to drive to Atlanta, in what should have been a 7 hour drive. Then apparently his dog managed to escape from the hotel room while Brad was out to dinner, but he was found roaming the hallways when they returned. Apparently that made for some unhappy neighbors, but it gave us a good laugh. Also, one of his aunts (hi Lisette!) works for Tulane and is an essential employee so she had to stick around and watch over the Ape house. Yes, that's right - apes. Who knew they had apes. I'm still a bit perplexed by that but sounds like a fun time if you ask me.

Anyway, Let's hope there's not too much destruction and they can all return to their homes in the not to distant future. In honor of New Orleans, we made beignets for breakfast. They were quite yummy, but not as good as Cafe du Monde of course. That was the gist of our weekend - oh yeah, and we went to a friends house for out fantasy football draft yesterday. Somehow I got sucked into having a fantasy team this year. I seem to have gotten some decent players, but what do I know. I'm gonna hope my luck kicks in for this because I'm not exactly a football aficionado.

Hope everyone had a great labor day weekend, now it's back to reality - and 11 straight days with the kids since Jeff has school again this weekend - let's just hope their healthy! I'm keeping an eye on Hanna and now Ike (what kind of name is that? ). We are well prepared if a storm were to head our way, seems to be quite an active season - and it's only the beginning of September!
