Looking in the Rearview Mirror One Year Later

One year ago today I did something that I never thought I would do. My family and I, there were just three of us at the time (well, the fourth was in my belly) and our dog Riley packed up the car with anything and everything we could fit inside, left our house (with most of our belongings) that was still for sale and moved 1000 miles south. Jeff and I had talked about it for a while but I never thought we would actually go through with it. It all started with me complaining about the cold weather, wanting a single family house, and just ready for a change. Jeff would have been happy to stay where we were but he was up for a new adventure. He had already made one big move in his life, so what was one more? I had lived my entire life in the same state and was finally ready to move on. Luckily Jeff was able to find a great job, that's pretty much what our move hinged on. If he couldn't find a good job ahead of time, we couldn't make the move since he supports all five of us (yes, the dog is part of the family too). Looking back, it's been a great year. We moved to a new state, sold a house, bought a house, started a new job (Jeff that is) and had a baby (definitely the best part). Despite missing my friends and family dearly, I am very happy with our decision. We have a wonderful house with wonderful neighbors and I've met some really great people through a moms group that I joined, and the best part is...no more COLD weather! The only time I feel cold is when the A/C is set too low, but thankfully that is adjustable. Allison seems to really love it here too. She's completely come out of her shell in the past year. Not sure what prompted that change, but she will converse with any child, anytime, at anyplace. Everyone is her "friend". Her teachers call her Ms. ChattyChat (this could be a problem in a few years!). Daniel doesn't know any different since he was born here but I think he likes it. So as of now, we are staying put and I am enjoying every minute of it!
