Last year we had what was called the "yogurt incident" at school. I don't think I ever wrote a blog about - Allison was covered in yogurt when her friend Cecilia decided to be silly and shake her yogurt (with the lid open). Allison ended up taking the brunt of it. Thank goodness for having a spare change of clothes at school. Today we had the "shoe" incident. We went to the zoo this morning with a friend from Allison's class. Allison really wanted to wear her sandals so I told her okay but said we had to bring her tennis shoes to change into after the zoo (the kids aren't allowed to wear open toed shoes to school). I dropped her off at school and came home. After being home for about two minutes, my phone rang..."Hello, Mrs. Robbert, this is Allison's school calling (the words you never want to hear)...Everything is fine (they always know to preface their phone calls with this statement) but Allison is very upset and crying because she has her sandals on and they are hurting her. Would you mind bringing over her tennis shoes?" I realized we had forgotten to change her shoes! So I ran back to school (via the car) and took the shoes to her classroom. Her teacher, Miss Maggie saw me and opened the door to the classroom. She said "I thought Allison's shoes were bothering her so I got her band aids and had the front desk call you - but it turns out she was just upset because she knew she didn't have the right shoes on. If I had known they weren't hurting her, I would have told her it's okay - she could just wear them for the rest of the day. I hope you don't mind that I called you." Of course I didn't mind. My sensitive little girl gets upset over these things. I was just happy I could come to the rescue. This reminded me of the whole backpack and lunchbox incident from the first day of school last year. Let's hope there aren't too many more "incidents" to come...

I hope Allison one day can appreciate what a fantastic mother she has. Grandman
Oh, she and K have so much in common...they are so sensitive and they like to follow the rules in life.
Bless her tender little heart ;) And a mommy who understands it.
