It's been a few days since I've posted, so I figured I'd get everyone caught up on what's been happening around here. Not too much really. I took Allison to the dentist on Friday for her 6-month appt. It went a little better than last time but not much. The hygienist asked her what flavor toothpaste she wanted and she decided to go with mint. However, after she tasted the mint, she decided it was too sweet and so the hygienist decided it would be best to try the unflavored toothpaste. We made it through the top row of teeth and then she shut her mouth, rolled over in the chair and despite the bribes from the hygienist and myself, kept her mouth shut (now I know how to get her to stop talking). It's frustrating but what can you do? She doesn't like the gritty taste of the toothpaste. I can't blame her, I don't like it either but I guess I'm just old enough to know I have to deal with it. We'll see what happens in another six months - next time they'll start with the bottom teeth.
As for Daniel, he seems to be jealous of Allison's trip to the ER. He's doing everything in his power to have his chance to go. Today he dove headfirst off the side of the couch onto the tile floor. I saw it happen and I think it took a few years off my life. He was fine after a few minutes of crying. It's amazing how hard his head is. He's hit that thing so many different times in so many different places I'm amazed it's still in one piece. Maybe that makes me sound like a bad mother because he is always hurting himself but I just can't possibly be right next to him to catch him every second. He does things Allison would never have dreamed of doing when she was his age. Guess that's the difference between boys and girls. Boys don't think. And wouldn't you know it, ten minutes later, he was back climbing the couch and leaning over the edge again. Ugh.
On a brighter note, they opened a Nestle Toll House Cafe near our house recently and I was craving a chocolate chip cookie today so we went for a visit. We walked in and it smelled like a chocolate lovers dream. What a neat place. They had all sorts of yummies to choose from, but of course I had to go with my favorite - a slice of cookie cake! I was so excited to see they had cookie cake slices because I was ready to buy the whole damn thing they're so good. Allison ordered a treat called "A little bit of trouble" which was two little cookies with cream in the middle rolled in sprinkles. Jeff had some sort of peanut butter thingie and Daniel shared my slice of cookie cake. It was a special treat for all of us.
So that's what's going on with us. Getting ready for another busy week of school, dance, doctor appts (Allison's staples come out on Tuesday), work and maybe a little bit of fun if we can find the time!
