Down For the Count

So my poor baby is still sick. I took her back to the doctor yesterday because she wasn't showing any signs of improvement. Her head is still clogged with gunk. How do you get mucus out of a child when it's not draining and she doesn't know how to spit it out? I can hear her cough it up but then she just swallows it again. The doctor prescribed us a new antibiotic and gave us a different decongestant yesterday. It doesn't help that Allison HATES taking the medicine. She gags when we try and give it to her because it tastes awful. It is such a battle to try and get any medicine into her. The first antibiotic was an awful tasting milky white liquid and I made the mistake of not having the pharmacy add a flavoring to it. My advice to all new parents - add flavoring to any liquid medicine!!! So her new antibiotic tastes like grape. She is a little more willing to take that one and it's only once a day instead of twice. The first decongestant we had was a milky pink substance and she didn't like that so much either. On the second doctor visit they gave me some yellow Triaminic which doesn't taste very good either. It was a struggle to get her to take some this morning. My mom was nice enough to come over today so I could go to the food store for an hour. Other than going to the doctors and Walgreens twice I haven't left the house in 5 days! At least I'm not working and having to worry about what I'm missing at a job, so I am very thankful for that. Hopefully she will show signs of improvement soon. We're supposed to go to Animal Kingdom on Saturday to meet our friend Becky and her husband Dirk from New Orleans. Not sure if we're going to make that one. And on Sunday I have tickets to take her to see Playhouse Disney Live. So we have a busy weekend, or it may turn out to be not so busy, we'll see how she is doing.
