I feel like I should post something since it's been a whole week without a post. I haven't had any tiny talk the past two weeks. As usual, the kids have said plenty, I just can't seem to get it written down or remember it. I even have a little recorder thingie that I carry with me but I feel silly talking into it, so it doesn't really serve it' purpose. Anyway, things are pretty quiet here in this household. As I mentioned in my last post, I attempted to start potty training Daniel. Things started out well but slowly deteriorated and I decided that before I went insane and consequently took it out on him that I better stop and try again in a few weeks, or a few months, or maybe even a few years. Okay, not that long. It will happen, just not right now which is fine with me - he's not even 2 1/2 yet. He's still dong #2 on the potty (most of the time) which is usually the more difficult part of potty training so I should be very thankful for that. And I am. It's just frustrating because it takes him about 10 trips to the potty before it finally comes out. He also tells me whenever he is peeing, so he aware of it, he just needs to realize that he can hold it, go sit on the potty and then let it all out. I'm probably giving way to much detail here but you have to remember, most of what I write is to capture history and all the memories that come along with it. So if you're sick of hearing about Daniel and his potty issues, click the big X in the right hand corner of your screen.
As for Allison, she is doing great - loving school. She even received an award last week called a "Proud Owl Award" for cooperation. Now I have no idea what she did to deserve such an award but apparently the vice principal came to the classroom to give it to her so I guess she's doing something right. She seemed pretty proud to have received it too. Apparently two or three other kids in her class had received a similar award recently. Guess I'll have to wait for a parent teacher conference to find out why she got it. In the meantime, it's proudly displayed on the side of the refrigerator. Funny story from today - Jeff dropped Allison off at school today like he does every morning. After she went into the school, he started walking back to his car when someone said to him "nice lunchbox". Apparently he forgot to give Allison her lunchbox when she walked into the building and as soon as he realized he was holding it, he went to the front desk and dropped it off. Well as Jeff I was on my cell phone with Jeff listening to him tell me this story, the house phone rang and thanks to my handy dandy caller ID I saw that it was the school system. So I hung with with Jeff and I picked up the house phone and I heard "Mommy (with a cracked voice), I forgot my lunchbox (with an even more cracked voice about to fall apart). To which I immediately responded "It's okay honey, daddy just dropped it off at the front desk." She didn't say anything after that but I heard an adult say to her "Do you want me to talk to her?" So the adult came on the phone and told me that Allison forgot her lunchbox and I explained that her father had just dropped it off at the front desk and they just so happened to be at the front desk and saw the find the lunchbox right then and there - crisis averted. I was quite surprised to pick up the phone and hear Allison's voice. I figured it was someone from the school calling but not actually her. Makes me realize how quickly she is growing up.When she came home later I asked her if they had to look up her phone number or if she told it to them. She told me that she told it to them and they dialed it for her. So I'm happy that she knows how to get a hold of me in an emergency such as when a lunchbox goes missing.
As for me, I have adjusted to having to entertain Daniel from 8-2 everyday. I've managed to sign us up for everything under the sun because if we stay at home, the poor boy just walks around aimlessly with his two fingers in his mouth, holding his monkey's tail and wondering when his sister/friend/playmate will be home. Kinda like this (visually insert monkey):
