Happy Rosh Hashanah!

We celebrated the Jewish New Year last night by going to my parents house for dinner. My mom started the evening off by presenting the kids with a couple of gifts. The first gift was a book about Rosh Hashanah for Daniel called "Happy Birthday World". We read it to him to explain the meaning of the Jewish New Year.

Then Allison opened the next gift which was a tzedakah box which is used to collect money to donate to charity. Allison loved this gift and I think it's a great way to help teach her to give to others. We will collect coins and then donate the money together.

We enjoyed a very yummy dinner of matzoh ball soup, brisket, mashed potatoes, challah and vegetables with Aunt Ruth, Uncle Bob, Aunt Esther and Uncle Allen.

After dinner, it was time for some more fun. The kids really wanted to play Wii (probably not the most kosher thing to do on Rosh Hashana but that's okay). Daniel is finally starting to figure out how to play bowling - he even managed to get a strike at one point. You can tell from these pictures how much fun he is having:

I hope all my family and friends have a wonderful new year!
