Our Summer Travels to Maryland -Day 1 & 2

Yes, I have been absent from this blog for too long but I have a good reason. We have been on vacation in Maryland visiting lots of friends and family whom we haven't seen in at least two years. It's amazing how much all of the kids have grown in this amount of time. For my next several posts, I'll share what we did on our trip but I'd also like to focus on the then and the now. I'll share a picture from the past and a picture from our trip to show how fast time really does go by. Hope you enjoy!

We arrived in Maryland on Thursday July 23rd. The flight went well but trying to get from our car, to luggage check-in , through security, onto the plane, back off the plane, pick up our luggage, into a shuttle to get to the rental car facility, and finally into our rental car so we could drive to my parents with a two year old and a five year old in tow is quite stressful! Before we even landed, Jeff was spent:

Daniel on the other hand was rearing to go! Once we got to my parents we just relaxed and the kids enjoyed spending time with grandma and papa making cookies.

On day two of our trip, we spent the day in Columbia, where we used to live. In the morning, we visited with Allison's old playgroup friends. Every week for two and a half years the eight of us got together to let the kids socialize while we talked about everything under the moon. I still miss our weekly get togethers and it was wonderful to see everyone. Needless to say, our group has grown quite a bit since most of us have had a second child. I wish I had remembered to take a picture of all the kids together but unfortunately I did not. Here are a couple pictures I took of all the kids In December of 2005 (yes, it's impossible to get 8 one-year olds to pose for a picture):

These were actually the only two pictures I took. I really wish I had taken more, especially a group shot, but when you've got 11 kids running around, it's hard to ask them to sit still for a picture. Of course, none of the kids really remembered each other but they had a good time hanging out and it was great to hang out with all the moms again.

Next it was off to see my best friends from high school. There were five of us girls who were really close. Me, Laura, Mary, Lisa and Julie. I now live in Florida, Laura lives in Brussels (yes, across the ocean), Lisa lives near Virginia Tech, Julie lives in North Carolina and luckily Mary still lives in Columbia so we all had a place to get together. Well, we actually went to her parents house because they have a pool and that was a good source of entertainment for the mass amount of kids we all have now. Unfortunately Lisa and Julie were not able to attend the get together and we really missed them. However, our good friend David and his new wife Anna were able to come and it was so wonderful to see them. So in total we had 8 adult and 8 kids (4 of which are Mary's). Now if I was writing this post at home, I would scan an old high school picture of all of us to include in this post but since I'm still in MD, I don't have access to my old pictures. So here is a picture of all of us at Mary's parent's house:
And here's a picture of Mary, me, David and Laura:
Oh the memories...It was great to catch up with old friends. On that note, I will conclude this post. Day 3 is next...to be continued...
