Back In the Pool and Eager to Learn

It has been about ten months since Allison finished taking swim lessons. Since summer is here once again, I wanted her to improve upon her swimming skills and learn better breathing techniques. Her preschool teacher from two years ago, MS. Sara was offering swim lessons at the preschool so I signed Allison up for two weeks of lessons. When Allison completed her lessons last August, she was able to float on her back, jump in the pool, and swim a short distance but she still didn't get the "hold your breath" concept because she was constantly choking on water. After this week of lessons, I think she has improved a great deal on her swimming and has perfected holding her breath. Even Ms. Sara was surprised at how willing she was to go to the bottom of the pool to fetch the play sticks. Her lessons this week focused on swimming , coming up for air, swimming further, doing a pencil jump into the water (Allison tends to belly flop), diving from the knee position (still working on that one) and swimming on her back. I took some videos today. She might not be the most graceful swimmer, but I'm just glad she's grasping the concept.

Practicing a pencil jump...or is it a belly flop?

Trying to swim on her back, but mainly just floating and enjoying the moment

Then there's Daniel who's taking it all in, or not really paying attention at all. Haven't signed him up for swim lessons yet...I'll probably wait another year, no need to torture the poor boy now.

Goodness gracious they are too cute for words. Allison giggling while she swims, and Daniel jumping in the chair instead of sitting down. I'm quite envious of MawMaw getting to spend the week with them.
