Hannukah, Oh Hanukkah

We had a very celebratory first night of Hanukkah, first at my Aunt Ruth and Uncle Bob's house and then at a Hanukkah party at their neighborhood clubhouse. First we opened gifts. Allison was excited to find out my aunt and uncle had bought her tickets (which are hiding in the red box) to see Beauty and the Beast (the stage musical) in January:

Daniel, on the other hand, doesn't get excited about gifts right when he opens them. It usually takes a day or two for him to think about it an realize he is excited. Jeff tried his best to bring out the excitement in Daniel. Check out the video:

We haven't had a chance to put it together yet but hopefully we will (I mean, Jeff will) this weekend. Daniel also received a fun gift from me. Check out these lion slippers:
The Hanukkah party at my aunt's clubhouse was quite festive. We feasted on lots of food, included potato latkes. After dinner, Allison played the dreidel game for the first time ever and loved it. I didn't have my camera on me so I had to take a picture with my cell phone:

After a fun game of dreidel, I was ready to head home, but before we could head out the door Allison heard the piano playing. And it just so happened to be playing the dreidel song. The piano player motioned for her to come sing and Allison couldn't have been more exited. She grabbed the mic and belted out her best version of "I have a little dreidel, I made it out of clay." I'm sad to report that this all happened so quickly and I did not have my video camera on me. I suppose I could have used the video on my phone but the quality would have been poor and her performance would have been over before I would have been able to hit record. I was amazed at how willing she was to perform in front of a large room of people without any hesitation - and she loved it! It was a great first night of Hanukkah! Happy Hannukah everyone!

Daniel wasn't excited because he could read the box -- some assembly required! He obviously knows what it takes to build a bike. But he will love the finished product.
