Disney Day 2: Magic Kingdom

On day 2, Allison was so excited to go to Magic Kingdom that she woke up at 4:30am. Yes, that was not a typo, she was up at 4:30 and could not fall back asleep (nor could I because the little kid in me was just as excited). Daniel woke up around 6am which is also early for him. Of course, Jeff had no problem sleeping in, but we woke him up around 7:30 to get ready to go. But before we left, we enjoyed breakfast on the balcony of our hotel room. It was a beautiful day!
We got to the park around 9:15 and headed straight back to Fantasyland. We always do that area first since it tends to get the most crowded. We went on Pooh's Great Adventure and Snow White. Unfortunately It's a Small World (my favorite ride) and the teacups(Allison's favorite ride) were both closed for renovations but the race cars were open and the kids had fun steering while Jeff and I hit the gas pedals. I tried to get a picture of Daniel driving the car, but he is a wee bit short. Makes you wonder how he was able to steer when he can't even see where he is going:
Allison was at least big enough to see over the wheel, but her driving skills could use some improvement (luckily we've got ten years to work on that):

Next we went on the people mover and saw the Monster's Inc. show, then it was time to use our fastpass for the Buzz Lightyear ride:

Then we headed over to the Swiss Family Treehouse. For some reason we have never done this with the kids. Maybe the sight of all those steps scared us away but they are finally both old enough to talk themselves up and down the whole thing:

Later we headed over to Aladdin's magic carpet ride. I also don't think the kids have ever been on this ride:
Then we headed over to the Pirates of the Caribbean where we ran into Goofy:
And Daniel found a fun hat:
A little while later we decided it was time to go and visit Mickey and Minnie. Allison and Daniel were quite excited to see them.
Before we knew it, darkness had taken over and it was time for the Main Street Electrical Parade. We met up with some of our friends from Maryland, Jeff and Dale, who also happened to be at Disney this week and we all watched the parade together. The parade was at 9pm and Daniel fell asleep just before it began. Allison, on the other hand, was still going strong...16 1/2 hours and counting since she woke up (she even talked Jeff and Dale's ears off!) After the parade, we headed over to the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station because we had reservations for the "Wishes Dessert Party". It was an all you can eat dessert buffet and reserved seating for the fireworks show. I had read about this and thought it would be cool to do but I thought it was supposed to end in August. Turns out they extended it through the end of the year, which we found out while we were there. Luckily we were able to make a reservation earlier in the day. The desserts were delicious, I wish I could have eaten more but I can only handle so much sweet stuff. Unfortunately for Daniel he slept through the whole thing, but Allison wasn't about to miss this treat (still going strong after 17 1/2 hours of being awake):
Check out these yummy desserts:
This picture is a little fuzzy but this was our view of the castle for the fireworks display:
The fireworks were amazing as always and Daniel managed to sleep right through them. Allison enjoyed watching them and then it was time to go back to the hotel. Allison quickly fell asleep soon after we put her in the stroller to head for the monorail and back to our car. We finally got back to the hotel around 11:30 where I promptly collapsed into the bed (remember, I was up at 4:30am as well!). Next up...a day at the hotel pool...waterslide fun!

It has been 10 years, and her driving has not gotten much better.
