There's a neat drive-through safari/amusement park about five minutes from where we live. The kids and I have a season pass but Jeff had never been there so we decided to take him there for Father's Day - it didn't hurt that fathers got in free today too and since I'm cheap, I decided it would be a good day to go. We had a good time driving through the safari where we saw, ostrich, elephants, chimps, zebra, rhino's, lions and a bunch of other animals that I can't remember because they had funny names. Since we went in the morning, the animals were real active. We lucked out when we got to the lions because they had just been fed and we got to watch them eat. At one point a lion was getting angry because too many vultures were hovering around waiting for leftovers so the lion got his lazy butt up and chased at them. If you know anything about lions you'll know that they sleep 20 hours a day so seeing them awake and actually showing movement was quite a spectacle. After the drive-through safari, we went into the amusement park where they have a couple rides, some more animals, and a big water play area. They also have an area where you can feed the giraffes. I managed to get a couple pictures of us feeding the giraffes. It was fun. well for Jeff, Allison and I. At one point, I was holding Daniel and was about to feed the giraffe when it got impatient and stuck it's head very close to me and scared the bageezus out of Daniel. Poor guy. I guess he's not used to being around animals much bigger than our 50 lb dog, so when this enormous face came at him, he was a bit freaked. Go figure. All in all it was a fun thing to do for Father's Day. Here are some pictures from the day. The animal pictures were all taken from the car and the only animals that were behind a fence were the lions.
