Our trip was quickly coming to an end but we had two days left and we made the most of it. On Monday, day 5, we made a return visit to the Children's Discovery Museum in downtown San Jose. We really enjoyed the last time we were there, especially the special exhibit which was Alice and Wonderland. This time the special exhibit was Bob the Builder which was also great. When we walked into the museum, the kids hopped right on the big fire truck:Then they had a good time watching a ball magically float in the air:
After that we raced over to the water area. I thought Daniel might freak out because there was a chance he might get a little wet (he's weird like that sometimes) but he loved it:
And here is Allison two years ago playing with the same water (well, hopefully the water is different). I love to see the change!
Then we headed outside and the kids did a little gardening:
After the kids finished gardening, we came back inside and pretended to rock climb:
And drive an ambulance:
But then it was time to build....Bob the Builder! So Bonnie and Jeff put on their toolbelts:
And Jeff and Allison built a house (hey, what happened to the tool belt?):
In the meantime, Daniel was busy working at the workbench and keeping his toolbelt from falling off:
Afterwards he took a ride on Muck (thanks Wikipedia!):
Always more work to be done:
Bye, bye Bob!
Then we headed upstairs - yes, there is a whole other level that we didn't even go to last time. There were some neat play areas up there, one for kids age 1-4 and then one for the older kids. Daniel really enjoyed the younger kids room. There was a neat little tunnel that he could run through. You can't tell from this picture but the tunnel was dark so I just stuck the camera in and hit the button. I couldn't believe what a great picture I got!
Then there was this weird psychedelic room with a spinning carousel in the middle:
Then Daniel found this cool treehouse...which really got the wheel's in Jeff's head spinning. Now he wants to build one of these in our loft area upstairs (a smaller version of course):
In the meantime, Allison was in the big kid room with Aunt Bonnie where they made corn husk dolls. Bonnie felt her corn husk doll making skills were somewhat sub-par and the teenager behind the desk was giving her false encouragement but I think they turned out pretty good!
After a fun day at the museum it was time to head back to Aunt Bonnie's house and make some cupcakes! The kids had fun baking with Aunt Bonnie...can you tell???
Up next, our last day before heading home and a train ride through the redwood forest and up Bear mountain!
