By day 2 of our trip the kids were exhausted. They were still recovering from a day of traveling followed by a day of fun at Happy Hollow. So on day 2, Allison did this:Yes, she tucked herself inside a pillowcase and fell asleep for a couple hours. Daniel also took a long nap that day so we didn't do too much. We enjoyed walking to the local library and having lunch in the downtown area near my sister's house. The next day was Saturday which meant Uncle Michael was off of work and could spend the day with us! We decided to go to another amusement park about 30 minutes away called Gilroy Gardens. For those of you that aren't familiar with Gilroy, CA it is the garlic capitol of the world! The reason I mention this is because when you see one of the rides Allison went on, it will make more sense. The weather in Gilroy was beautiful - high 60's/low 70's. The kids got a little more use out of some of their "winter" pants on this trip. Good thing I didn't give them away yet! The first thing we did when we got there was put Uncle Michael in the stroller:
Now that we were ready to roll, we waited in line for our first ride: the strawberry twirl:
Then we went for a ride on the ferris wheel. Daniel enjoyed being up high but it was cold at the top! The views were beautiful though.
After the ferris wheel, we were ready to go for a drive, so we found some cars and hopped on. We offered to let Daniel drive, but he wanted to be escorted by Aunt Bonnie:
Can you figure out what this ride is?
That's right, it's spinning garlic! Daniel was too small to ride it but Allison, Jeff and Michael had a blast. They had a hard time walking in a straight line when they got off though. Next up were the kiddie rides. Allison is still small enough for these but not for much longer. They were perfect for Daniel's age:
I think the cutest ride was the little fish. Allison felt she was too old for it but Daniel was excited to go for a whirl:But their favorite ride was this one:
It's similar to the teacups at
After all the kiddie rides, we were ready for something a little more exciting. The park had one roller coaster there which Allison was big enough to ride but she opted not to. So Jeff and Michael went on and then Bonnie and I took a ride. As far as roller coasters go, it was pretty pathetic but my sister and I had fun nonetheless. Here's us waving from the front row:
