Presenting...Our New Barstools!

We've lived in our house a little over three years now and it's most certainly been a work in progress. I think the people that owned the house before us (for ten years, mind you) did just about nothing to it except paint a couple walls (whoopdidoo). We've slowly made many many changes from large projects such as redoing the kitchen counters and appliances, replacing all the carpet, installing a new A/C system (which died on us one very hot day in August a couple years ago), adding hurricane shutters - somehow the people before us survived like 5 hurricanes without them and after a spending a big chunk of change, we have yet to use them - which I am very thankful for, don't get me wrong. We even installed a new garage door (thanks to a state grant which paid half) which apparently will protect us form the strongest lashing of mother nature (we might be hunkering down in the garage if a hurricane ever does come our way). We installed a well for our sprinkler water (thanks to a grant from the city which also paid half - gotta love free money!) and added a safety fence around the pool. And then there were the small projects - changing light fixtures and ceiling fans to changing door handles and sink faucets. You're probably wondering why the heck we bought this house if we needed to change and add so many things. Well, it was simply the layout. We love the layout of our house. If you've never been here, there is quite a neat balcony upstairs that overlooks the living room and the walls of the balcony have three large glass windows. And while I curse them every time I have to clean little fingerprints off, I do love them. From downstairs, we can see the kids running up and down the hallway. This, amongst other reasons, is why we bought this house. And we love it. So you're probably thinking, I though this post was about barstools, just show us the pictures already! I'm getting there people, simmer down. One of the first projects we did was replace the countertops in the kitchen. The stark white 10-year old laminate that was there just wasn't cutting it for us. When replacing the countertops, we decided to add a few inches to the edge so that we could add barstools. Since there was no island, like in our last house, we wanted a place to sit and eat which wasn't the kitchen table. Well, here we are three years later and we finally have our barstools. I finally found what I was looking for. The purchase was a bit daring because I bought them on the internet (thank you allbarstools.com) so we hadn't seen the real thing. Although I must say, the picture really did them it justice because when they arrived and we (and by we, I mean Jeff) put them together, I was thrilled with the result. I think they look fabulous and they were exactly what I was looking for (which was NOT easy to find). So without further adieu, I present to you...our new barstools...

The seat is a black microfiber material and the rest of the stool color is called pewter. They a little more shiny than they appear in the pictures but you get the idea. So another purchase is marked off the list. Hopefully the next three years will bring us a new washer/dryer, new landscaping, pool resurfacing, a new kitchen table...and well, I could go on and on but I won't. I'll be sure to post all the fun and exciting projects that we complete in the future. Now I just gotta figure out how to hit the lotto so I can pay for it all.
