I was invited to Allison's school on Friday for a Mother's Day event. We really weren't sure what to expect because all the kids had kept it a secret from their moms and wow were were amazed by it all. They started out with an adorable play that they performed on the stage in the cafeteria. Here's Allison getting ready to perform:
They sang four songs about flowers and gardens and even a rap about weeds. It was just precious. I couldn't believe the amount of words they had to memorize and not only that - but the hand motions that went along with it! Unfortunately my camera battery was on its last leg so I had to record what I could with my cell phone. I managed to record part of two of the songs:
This one was my favorite...I mean, who wouldn't like a rap song about weeds?? All the kids also had a line to read. I didn't manage to get that on video, but that's okay because I was able to enjoy watching it.
After the play, we went back their classroom where we were showered with love, food, and a ton of crafts that they had been working on for the past couple of weeks. Given that there were a ton, I'm not going to include them all in this post, but here are the really cute ones:
We also received a newspaper all about us:
My mom is the best because she dresses nice and cooks good food. (good to know I have good fashion sense).
Like I said, there was much much more that they made for us, but I couldn't possibly post it all. We got a pin that said #1 Mom, a paper corsage, a flower pen, Hershey kisses in a paper basket, and another little book. I was very impressed with how much they had done. I really enjoyed the tea and snacks and spending time with my little girl at school!

OMG, nothing cuter than little suburban white kids trying to rap!!!
Adore the pictures -- you can tell this is one little girl who really loves her mommy!
